Our lives can often feel busy and chaotic. This can lead us to feeling overwhelmed. In small doses this is fine but when it continues for a long period of time it can take it’s toll not only on ourselves, with high stress levels but it can also affect those closest to us.

Any little bit of order that we can bring into our lives can help us feel more balanced.

So I hope you found the writing of your to-do list and making your bed over the past week, a useful practice. Even if it was only in a small way. Maybe you didn’t keep up the practice the whole week, maybe you didn’t bother one evening or two evenings, or maybe you did it once and that was it.

A lot of us tend to feel guilty when we slip up after undertaking a new habit. You’re probably familiar with the feeling of having set yourself some grand new years resolution. Feeling intensely motivated, you know “New year, New me!” type of thing. Only to fail after 2 or 3 weeks and feel bad about it. When this happens we tend to talk down to ourselves, we may call ourselves a failure, tell ourselves that we’ll never improve or that we’ll never reach our goals.

My message for you this week is that it’s ok to mess up, it’s ok to fail. Everybody messes up, everybody fails. The most important thing is to forgive yourself for failing and try it again tomorrow. You can do this! You just have to be humble, be realistic and set the bar low enough.

So, if you struggled with the last weeks challenge, make it a little easier on yourself. Still write the to-do list before you go to sleep but put less on it. Make your bed, but don’t think it has to be perfect, just throw the duvet down and make it look somewhat presentable.

If you found the past week very easy, then try adding one or two more tasks to your to-do list. I recommend, putting drink water on the to-do list for doing immediately upon waking. If you’re like many of us you often struggle to wake up in the morning. Drinking a large amount of cold water as soon as you shut off your alarm in the morning can work wonders for kick starting your day.

Best of luck and I’ll see you the same time next week!
